QuMat – Pentomino Challenge

Science is not done in a vacuum. The QuMat did an unofficial visit to the Utrecht Mathfest and played with Pentominos under the guidance of  Odette De Meulemeester and Aad van de Wetering.

They also created two Pentomino challenges especially for QuMat.

The solution must have two symmetry axes.

The rules are simple. Cover the white squares with pentominoes so that no two pentominoes with the same shape (not rotated or mirrored either) have a side in common. A square with a letter in it must be part of the pentomino with the same name (see below).

Can you solve it? If so, feel free to send a message to the QuMat Office and let us know.
