7th Ultrafast Magnetism Conference

UMC 2026 is the 7th conference in a series, dedicated to the field of ultrafast spin and magnetization dynamics, and in particular to ultrafast dynamic processes in magnetic materials on picosecond, femtosecond and attosecond time scales. Previous UMC conferences took place in Strasbourg (2013), Nijmegen (2015), Kaiserslautern (2017), York (2019), Nancy (2022) and Berlin (2024).
The scientific topics of the UMC 2026 conference include the following:
Ultrafast spin dynamics and magnetization switching
Laser induced ultrafast magnetic processes.
Orbital angular momentum and phonon dynamics
Ultrafast spin transport and devices
Terahertz experiments and applications
Ultrafast dynamics in antiferro- and altermagnets
Dynamics in 2D, chiral, topological and quantum materials
Ultrafast magnetic microscopy and nanoscale magnetization dynamics
Novel techniques for ultrafast magnetization dynamics
Theory and simulation of ultrafast magnetization dynamics
The program will include two special symposia:
Spintronic-photonic integration
This symposium reflects the history of light technology and high tech development in the Eindhoven (Brainport) region, and the flourishing research & development eco-system in photonic chip technology that emerged from it.
Ultrafast dynamics in Chiral, Topological and Quantum materials
This symposium will be jointly organized with the Chiromag COST action, which focusses on ultrafast and energy-efficient ways to control magnetic topological states, but also links to the local strength in topological and quantum materials.
Part of the program will be organized jointly with the Chiromag COST action, which will be scheduled as a satellite meeting.
