Introducing magnetism in 2D materials: A theoretical/computational perspective

Abstract:
In this series of 2 or 3 informal lectures, I will introduce the emergence of magnetism in two-dimensional materials, from magnetic graphene to the recently discovered magnetic 2D materials. Important concepts such as Heisenberg and spin-wave Hamiltonians, magnetic anisotropy, and strong correlation effects will also be discussed.
