Abstract

For decades, metallic systems have resisted revealing their liquid-like properties, largely due to the inherent disorder that masks such behavior. However, recent experimental advances have begun to challenge this long-standing view, exposing intriguing signatures reminiscent of liquids in these highly complex systems.

In this talk, I will present a series of recent experimental observations that suggest the presence of liquid-like dynamics in metallic systems. I will also discuss the theoretical frameworks that help make sense of these findings, with particular emphasis on the role of collective excitations. Beyond their conventional role in thermalization, I will explore how these modes contribute to the emergence of hydrodynamic and non-equilibrium phenomena, offering a new perspective on transport and coherence in ultraclean metals.
