Short CV
The research of Van der Wal focuses on exploring spintronic and quantum information functionalities with electron spins and nuclear spins in devices of semiconductor and quantum materials, using both quantum optical methods and electron transport methods. Current projects study spin manipulation and dephasing for ensembles, electron many-body effects, and quantum state transfer between spin states and optical pulses, in new materials for this field. For his current research line Van der Wal was awarded an NWO Vidi grant and an ERC Starting Grant.
