Short Biography
My name is Chiara and I am working as a PhD student at HFML-FELIX in Nijmegen. I have completed my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Physics at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Modena, Italy). During my Master’s degree, I took part in an Erasmus exchange project at Radboud University in Nijmegen, where I completed an internship at HFML-FELIX under the supervision of Dr. Steffen Wiedmann.
I started as a PhD student in the group of Correlated Electron Systems at HFML-FELIX in December 2023, under the supervision of Prof. Nigel Hussey and Dr. Steffen Wiedmann, as a part of the QuMat consortium. My research focuses on studying the behaviour of different topological and strongly correlated materials, ranging from semimetals to superconductors, under extreme conditions, in particular at low temperatures (down to 0.3 K) and in high magnetic fields (up tp 35 T), in order to try to better understand the interplay between topology and correlations in these systems. The techniques I use to investigate the properties and the tunability of these materials are mainly electronic transport, torque magnetometry and uniaxial strain.
