Study of Magnetic topological insulators using the GW method
Project Leader: Irene Aguilera
Short Biography
I am a PhD student in the University of Amsterdam working under the supervision of Irene Aguilera Bonet since November, 2022. The aim of our current project is understanding magnetic topological insulators which are magnetic counterparts of the 3-dimensional time-reversal invariant topological insulators (TIs) of the Bi2T e3 family of the materials.
Before coming to the Netherlands, I was doing my masters in the Technical University of Darmstadt in Germany on Materials Science. During my masters thesis I worked in the research group ”Theory of Magnetic Materials”. My thesis was titled, ’Designing Magnetic Materials with Promising Topological Transport Properties’, where we used DFT to calculate the Anomalous Hall and Nernst conductivity for magnetic Heusler compounds. The result was also published as a journal article and the title is, ’Giant Anomalous Hall and Nernst Conductivities in Magnetic All-d Metal Heusler Alloys’.
Outside of work, I spend time with my friends, go out for movies or small hikes.
