Exotic criticality below magnetic excitations

Motivated by recent discovery of a non-magnetic Ising transition in frustrated spin chains we shall investigate the appearance of exotic quantum phase transitions inside the singlet-triplet gap. In addition to conformal quantum critical points in Ising, Potts and Ashkin-Teller universality classes we shall explore the possibility to realize in quantum magnets a new class of chiral transitions recently reported in the context of Rydberg atoms. Relying on numerical simulations we shall outline the necessary ingredients for these exotic transitions to appear in real materials and develop a protocol to detect them in experiments.
