Short CV
Wimmer investigates the mesoscopic physics of topological nanodevices. The efforts range from understanding and predicting transport signatures of topological states to materials modelling for topology. Combining these aspects, the group works towards novel and robust designs of topological nanodevices for quantum computation. Realistic modeling and simulations allow him to explore novel physics that benefits the functionality of these devices, such as in semiconductor based Majorana nanowires. Wimmer received an NWO Vidi grant in 2015 and the award of the German physical society for the best condensed matter dissertation in 2010.
