Short Biography
Hi, I’m Yoran, a PhD student at Eindhoven University of Technology. Before starting my PhD, I completed both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Applied Physics at the same university.
My research focuses on the fabrication and electrical characterization of PbSnTe nanowire devices. I use magnetism and superconductivity to probe their topological surface states and explore the potential of PbSnTe in the quantum realm. Ultimately, I aim to contribute to the exciting field of topological quantum computing (and, of course, to find Majoranas and get them renamed MaYoranas).
Outside the lab, I enjoy a wide range of activities. I stay active through fitness, unwind by crafting (and tasting) cocktails from my ever-growing bottle collection, and enjoy everything from a game of darts to chaotic rounds of Mario Kart. Beyond that, I also make time for traveling to new countries, visiting my roots in the hills of Zuid-Limburg, and following Formula 1 and football with great enthusiasm.
