In this project we will explore the formation of complex magnetic order in arrays of atomic spins. We will perform analogue quantum simulations in ideal artificially constructed lattices. In this way, we will be able to tailor the interplay between various interactions, such as several exchange interactions and spin orbit coupling, allowing us to explore exotic quantum systems including the quantum Ising model and the Kitaev model. We will study the spin dynamics of such ensembles, and their response to GHz fields, and search for non-dissipative switching mechanisms in atomic-scale magnets.
