Tailoring complex magnetic order at surfaces and interfaces

We will explore the creation of complex non-collinear magnetic order in thin films. In addition, analogue quantum simulations will be performed in “ideal” artificially constructed lattices. In this way, we will be able to tailor the interplay between various interactions, such as several exchange interactions and spin orbit coupling, and explore model Kitaev systems as well. We will study the spin dynamics of such ensembles, and their response to GHz fields, and search for non-dissipative switching mechanisms in atomic-scale magnets.
