Synthesis of complex magnetism

This subproject will focus on synthesizing and characterizing rare-earth films and alloys, to tailor chiral magnetic order. Using surfaces with strong spin orbit coupling, we will explore how spin-Q glass order as well as chiral magnetic order emerge in these materials. We will make use of light rare-earth compounds, where a self-induced spin glass phase was recently discovered by members of our consortium
